A healthy diet and regular exercise are essential for your overall health. Many diseases, including diabetes, can be managed successfully with a healthy diet. Since each disease causes different symptoms and your body needs different nutrients to manage the disease, each disease may require a different type of diet. If your body does not properly absorb the sugars you are ingesting, you may need to avoid foods that are starchy and contain a lot of sugar.

Before you begin a diet that is aimed at managing a certain disease, it is important to consult your physician and get a true diagnosis. If your body is actually turning starches and sugars into energy properly, you could risk the chance of denying your body of the necessary foods by decreasing the amount of starch and sugars in your diet. So, be sure to check with your physician, who will go over your symptoms and perform tests to determine the correct diagnosis.

Once you have been diagnosed with diabetes, your diabetes diet will play an important role in the management of the disease. Your diabetes diet does not necessarily restrict the food that you are allowed to consume. Rather the diabetes diet will usually consist of consuming a variety of foods in the correct portions that will allow your body to use the nutrients properly. The two most important aspects of a healthy diet are eating regular meals as closely as possible to the same time each day and eating the right amounts of the healthiest foods. If you are already eating a healthy diet, there may not be many changes. But, if you are not eating a healthy diet or do not eat regular meals at around the same time each day, you may have to make more changes. The key is to become conscious of what your body’s needs are and plan accordingly.

<!--

Insulin: A hormone, insulin unlocks ‘doorways’ in cells and allows glucose that comes from sugar, starches, and other foods, to enter the cells and be used as energy. Glucose provides the energy that the body needs to function normally and fuel daily activities.

Diabetes causes

Diabetes Can Cause:

Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)

Hypoglycemia

Retinopathy: Nearly 39,000 Americans lose their sight to diabetes each year.

Nephropathy: One out of three people with insulin-dependent diabetes develops kidney failure and need kidney transplants.

Type 1 diabetes-It’s not clear why this happens, but a number of explanations and possible triggers of this reaction have been proposed. These include:

Infection with a specific virus or bacteria;

Exposure to food-borne chemical toxins; and

Exposure as a very young infant to cow’s milk, where an as yet unidentified component of this triggers the autoimmune reaction in the body.

Type 1 diabetes is typically recognized in adulthood, usually after age 45 years. It used to be called adult-onset diabetes mellitus, or non–insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. These names are no longer used because type 2 diabetes does occur in younger people, and some people with type 2 diabetes need to use insulin.

Type 2 diabetes is usually controlled with diet, weight loss, exercise, and oral medications. More than half of all people with type 2 diabetes require insulin to control their blood sugar levels at some point in the course of their illness.

Poor Diet (Malnutrition Related Diabetes) : Improper nutrition, low protein and fibre intake, high intake of refined products are the expected reasons for developing diabetes.

Obesity and Fat Distribution : Being overweight means increased insulin resistance, that is if body fat is more than 30%, BMI 25+, waist grith 35 inches in women or 40 inches in males.

Diabetes Symptoms

The symptoms of type 2 diabetes due to high blood sugar may include:

•	Increased thirst

•	Increased hunger (especially after eating)

•	Dry mouth

•	Frequent urination

•	Unusual weight loss

•	Increased fatigue

•	Irritability

•	Blurry vision

Diabetes treatment

See a picture of glucagon, which is typically administered as an emergency diabetes treatment when a patient is suffering from symptoms of hypoglycemia — confusion, seizures, or unconsciousness

If the patient is obese and has had difficulty losing weight on their own, talk to a healthcare provider. He or she can recommend a dietitian or a weight modification program to help the patient reach a goal.

Eat a consistent, well-balanced diet that is high in fiber, low in saturated fat, and low in concentrated sweets.

When these measures fail to control the elevated blood sugars, oral medications are used.

If oral medications are still insufficient, treatment with insulin is considered.

Adherence to a diabetic diet is an important aspect of controlling elevated blood sugar in patients with diabetes. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has provided guidelines for a diabetic diet.

Diabetes remedies

Bittermelon (karela) is one of the best options 21 . Srivastava Y, Venkatakrishna-bhatt H, Verma Y, et al. Antidiabetic and adaptogenic properties of Momordica charantia extract: An experimental and clinical evaluation. Phytother Res 1993;7:285–9.. It can be simply fried with salt and other condiments and can be taken 2-3 daily. Half-cup karela juice can also be taken.

Take 15 fresh mango leaves and boil them in 1 glass of water. Keep them overnight. Filter and drink the next morning.

As a part of diabetes home remedy treatment, grapefruit is considered most beneficial. Eat three grapefruits three times in a day.

Gestational diabetes is something that is not to be overlooked by pregnant mothers. This type of diabetes occurs during pregnancy to women who have never been diagnosed with diabetes before.

The actual cause of gestational diabetes is still unknown, although there is a strong possibility that the hormones responsible in the development of the placenta have something to do with it.

The Symptoms

If you are looking for tell-tale signs to know if you do have gestational diabetes, you may only get frustrated. The usual signs of diabetes such as increased thirst, increased urination and fatigue may be confused with the normal signs of pregnancy.

Test for Diabetes

While not every expecting mother is diagnosed with gestational diabetes, pregnant women are nonetheless advised to undergo certain tests (usually on the 5th month of their pregnancy) to determine whether or not they have gestational diabetes. One of these tests is the oral glucose tolerance test in which you will be made to drink a glass of glucose solution. After an hour you will undergo a blood test to measure the levels of sugar in your blood.

The complications

It has to be emphasized that this form of diabetes can hurt both you and the baby. Although it does not cause birth defects as it usually occurs after the organs of the baby have already developed, it can nonetheless lead to a host of problems such as a fatter baby, hypoglycemia, jaundice, respiratory distress, and developmental problems like difficulty in walking, jumping, etc.

On your part, you will be at greater risk for:

pre-eclampsia
urinary tract infections

Treating gestational diabetes

So what should a mother do if she has gestational diabetes? When you have gestational diabetes, you need to seek treatment immediately. Go to a diabetologist at once so he can assess your needs and come up with the right treatment plan.

The treatment plan in gestational diabetes has the principal goal of regulating blood sugar levels through:

the right diet
exercise
medications

The Right Diet

The right diet for you in this case includes fruits and vegetables and whole grains. As much as possible you must refrain from eating foods that are high in fat and low in essential nutrients. It is also recommended to eat at least six meals a day.

Exercise

Regular exercise is to be encouraged as this can prevent weight gain which can trigger or worsen complications. If it’s okay with your doctor, engaging in aerobic exercises is a good way of regulating blood sugar levels.

Medications

For some women, eating the right foods and exercising are enough to maintain normal blood sugar levels, but for others, they need insulin injections, along with diet and exercise.

Close monitoring is very important in this case; your diabetologist may even advise you to use a special device to monitor your blood sugar levels throughout the day. Your doctor, too, will monitor the development of your baby. He may request for ultrasounds and run other tests to make sure that the baby is coping well.

Although this type of diabetes usually goes away after the baby is born, mothers are at greater risk of developing type II diabetes later in life. That is why monitoring of blood sugar levels, as well as eating the right foods and engaging in regular
exercise, will prove to be of great value to a woman with gestational diabetes.

While you may be aware of the most common signs of heart attack, there are some variances between men and women. In addition, there are also less obvious, but just as import symptoms of which you need to be aware.

The most common symptom of a heart attack for both men and women is persistent chest pain or pressure that does not go away when you sit or rest. If this is experienced, immediate emergency help is required. Even if it is not a heart attack, this could be a symptom of heart disease or other serious problems.

Other symptoms of a heart attack include pain that radiates through the shoulders, back, arms, or jaw. Less intense chest pain accompanied by shortness of breath, dizziness, or nausea should also be taken seriously. These could be signs of a heart attack or something else, but is better to find out immediately.

Women may experience other symptoms not normally associated with a heart attack until recently. Women are more likely to experience the “milder” warning signs such as shortness of breath, dizziness, anxiety, fatigue, and cold sweats. Women may also experience similar signs days or weeks prior to an actual attack. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor to be monitored for heart disease.

Adults of all ages can be affected by heart disease, although many people still consider it to be something that only older adults need to be concerned with. Certain risk factors add to heart disease, including tobacco use, high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol. Some of these risk factors can be lowered through proper care and exercise. Seek help to eliminate tobacco use, add an exercise program to your daily routine, and change dietary habits to lower cholesterol. If you have diabetes, follow your doctor’s recommendations on taking proper care of yourself and monitor your blood sugar levels on a regular basis.

Lifestyle changes can be difficult, but many resources exist to help you make these changes. Your doctor will have plenty of information on all the major risk factors. You can also find additional information from organizations such as the American Medical Association.

If you find yourself in a situation where you are experiencing the signs of heart attack or warning signs of heart disease, be sure to describe accurately all your symptoms. Some people try to appear “tough” and minimize their symptoms. Others may feel that they are being a bother or overreacting to the symptoms, particularly if they seem mild. However, if your caretakers do not have an accurate picture of your symptoms, they may not be able to diagnose your condition effectively.

This is particularly true of early warning signs and symptoms. It’s much better to address heart disease as early as possible rather than finding yourself needing an emergency quadruple bypass. Of course, genetics play a role, but this is even more of a reason to monitor your health closely and any potential warning signs.

In general, the healthier a lifestyle you can maintain, the better off you are, for both coronary and general health. Be sure to have a complete medical evaluation completed by your doctor, particularly if heart disease runs in your family. Eat a varied diet that includes fruits, vegetables, fish, and healthy oils. Maintain a regular exercise program, and try to keep your weight within a healthy range (your doctor can help you with this as well). Additionally, make an effort to keep your stress levels at a healthy level. When you take care of your health, you can significantly reduce your chances of suffering a heart attack or other coronary disease.

Let ‘s start by considering the two types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetics make little or no insulin. Type 2 is usually found in people over 45 who have diabetes in their family who are overweight, who do not, and who have problems with cholesterol. It is also common in certain racial and ethnic groups (blacks, Indians USA, and Hispanics) and women who had diabetes when they were pregnant.

Type 2 diabetes is generally recognized in adulthood, usually after age 45. It was called adult-diabetes mellitus, or non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes life is a disease that affects how your body uses food for energy. The disease develops when the body’s cells become resistant to insulin or when the pancreas can not make enough insulin.

First stage

Consult a doctor and go for appointment. Most doctors want to see diabetics, once every three months, they use this visit to do the work of blood and make sure the patient done their part in treating diabetes. The blood is used to check cholesterol and blood sugar average is determent by a test called A1C. These levels are important for the doctor to determine whether drugs or medication adjustments are necessary.

In addition, the doctor may send you to classes on how to treat diabetes, I highly recommend these classes. They focus on diet, exercise and personal care. They also cover all the different types of medicines on May you be and what they do. Most courses also cover Glucose Meters and how they are used, one I went to condition meters even if you do not have one.

Second stage

Food is another important step; surprisingly I learn from these classes, a diet is not really responsible it is simply a regime that everything must follow a diabetic and non-diabetic. What the regime is on account of the amount of carbohydrates we eat is a level for each meal for men it is 4 carbohydrate choices for women it has 3 choices each choice is composed of 15 grams of carbohydrates each.

Also all meals must be balanced with mostly vegetables and protein and carbohydrates. When you eat sugars and proteins at the same time, slowing the speed at which your body converts carbohydrates into glucose and instead make a quick sugar high, it is growing slowly and not even as high. The goal is to have a small wave in the levels of sugar in the blood instead of a rapid rise.

Stage 3

Exercise can reduce the risk of heart disease, which is common among elderly and in people with diabetes. The exercise is good for everyone, including people with diabetes. It is also an important element in the treatment of diabetes because exercise can improve your body’s response to insulin, help you lose body fat further, and your heart and lungs in good condition. The exercise, a low-sugar diet and lose weight May reduce the risk of diabetes later in life.

Hopefully, these articles will help you understand diabetes. With simple lifestyle and diet changes it is not too difficult to treat. Keep a positive attitude and strive for a heather lifestyle.

Part 1

Please read this report whether you have just been diagnosed with diabetes or had it for a while or whether you have it under control or not because what you are about to read will literally change your life.

I urge you to think back to the time when you were diagnosed when the doctor requested to talk you in person by phone or in the clinic! At that moment your heart was racing anticipating not so good news. Then the doctor drops the big bomb and tells you that you have diabetes.

What did you feel at that moment?! Were there fear in your heart and eyes from what to come next? Did you fear for your life? Did you feel that “ Oh My God my life as I know it has changed for good”? Did you also think “So I now I have to be deprived of sweets and my favorite food…” How about “I don’t want to be on medications, shoot insulin and prick myself for the rest of my life…” kind of thinking.

Or maybe you had an immediate thought about a friend or a loved one who perished from diabetes prematurely after tremendous suffering from every debilitation in the book such as leg amputations, blindness, kidney failure, heart attack or a stroke; You may have thought “ these horrible debilitating blows will happen to me too. Oh my….! What devastating news the doctor has given me…”.

If you had these thoughts cross your mind at the time of diagnosis and thereafter then believe me, you are not alone. These thoughts have crossed the minds of all diabetics at one time or another and are legitimate and worrisome concerns.

The reasons for what lead to this diagnosis at his stage are far less important at this stage than how you will deal with this new situation from this point on.

Let’s take a look at how diabetes impacts us here in the USA and worldwide. This is quote from the book “Lifestyle Makeover for Diabetics”:

“Diabetes is a mushrooming disease of epidemic proportions in the U.S.A. and worldwide. It is becoming one of the largest medical challenges of the 21 st century. Pierre Lefebvre, President of the International Diabetes Federation, has been quoted saying: “As diabetes spreads across the globe, the world is heading for one of the biggest health catastrophes it has ever seen.”

“Diabetes affects a startling 247 million people worldwide and just 10 years ago there were 127 million diabetics, which is less than half the numbers today. In the U.S. more than 20.8 million have diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes-related complications due to UNCONTROLLED diabetes cause more than 250,000 deaths in the U.S. annually, a staggering 75% of which are the result of debilitating strokes, heart and artery disease complications which are totally preventable . There are 54 million people in U.S. who are pre-diabetic (about to have diabetes) . Up to a whopping 73% of adult diabetics have high blood pressure and almost all have some form of cholesterol problem, which could lead to strokes, heart attacks and premature deaths if not brought under control and it can be.

UNCONTROLLED diabetes is the cause of over 45% of new cases of kidney failure and up to 70% of nerve damage called Neuropathy causing loss of sensation, pain and numbness in the hands and feet leading to amputations. UNCONTROLLED diabetes is the cause of over 60% of ALL leg and foot amputations, and also is the LEADING cause of blindness in people between the ages of 20 to 75.

This translates to new cases of over 100,000 leg amputations, over 44,000 cases of kidney failure and over 24,000 cases of blindness every single year. These numbers keep on climbing alarmingly.

It is well known that a person suffering of diabetes has special needs regarding food and diet.

One of the most valuable fruits used in the diabetic’s diet is the apple. Apples contain in their rind and pulp a high level of pectine, which supplies the galacturonic acid needed in the process of cleaning the body of harmful substances. It also decreases the body’s need of insulin by 35%.

Besides pectine, apples also contain vitamin B1, which has an important role in preventing brain damages during diabetic acidosis, and reverses a complication that appears in diabetes: the neurosis. This complication can be relieved by administering high doses of vitamin B1.

Another valuable fruit is the grapefruit, a citrus fruit. Besides its appetizing properties and its refreshing qualities, studies have proved its usefulness in decreasing the level of sugar in the blood if taken two weeks, three times a day. Associated to this diet, consume of sweets, chocolate, and fats should be reduced and replaced with consume of more vegetables and fruits.

Other anti-diabetes fruit is The Jambul Fruit (also known as the rose apple) which grows in India, used at first by natives. It has a strong effect on the pancreas, checking the wrong transformation of starch into sugar in case of increase production of glucose.

The fruit is mostly used for its seeds which are dried, powdered and then mixed with water. This drink taken three times a day controls the level of sugar in the blood, allays thirst and prevents excessive urination.

In Ayurveda another treatment is considered to be useful in diabetes: the use of white ash from the inner bark of jambul tree, crumbled in the mortar, strained and then bottled. The treatment consists in giving the patient in the morning, on an empty stomach two grams of the ash and then the same in the afternoon. It is considered that this treatment controls excessive urination that affects most of the diabetics.

An equilibrate diet, based on vegetables, fruit and juices, and with less fats and sweets, associated with an active lifestyle, quitting smoking, self measuring the level of sugar in the blood and losing weight could control the diabetes and allow the patients to live a normal life.

Unique places within the pancreas gland, the islets of Langerhans, create a hormone known as insulin. This hormone is really a protein of little sizing. Insulin stimulates muscle tissue along with other physique tissue to consider up glucose in the blood vessels and convert the glucose to glycogen, a type of starch, after which shop the glycogen. By require the physique tissue convert the glycogen to glucose and use it as fuel. In by doing this insulin keeps the glucose degree within the blood vessels at a typical sizing.

By diabetic issues kind I the tissue generating insulin are destroyed. Then much less glucose is used up in the blood vessels to the physique tissue and utilized there, and glucose accumulates within the blood vessels.

THE Leads to AND MECHANISMS OF Diabetic issues Kind I

The trigger from the illness isn’t popular. An auto-immune response attacking the insulin generating tissue within the langerhansian islets might be a trigger. Virus infection might be an additional trigger. The illness also would be to some extend inherited.

When the glucose uptake to the physique tissue is decreased, but glucose rather accumulates within the blood vessels, the subsequent physiological results happen:

-The physique tissue don’t get sufficient fuel for that perform they shall do.

-The molecular thickness (osmality) from the blood vessels raises. This leads to drinking water to become pulled out in the physique cells and to the blood vessels. The cells therefore get dried out and also the urine manufacturing raises.

-The cells start to break down protein and excess fat to obtain power, leading to pounds reduction and muscular reduction.

The signs of diabetic issues kind one are a result of those mechanisms.

Signs OF Diabetic issues Kind one

The illness frequently begins all of a sudden. Frequently kids or young individuals are attacked through the illness. The insufficient insulin leads to an elevated quantity of blood vessels glucose. Early signs from the illness are:

-Increased urine manufacturing

-Dehydration (insufficient drinking water within the physique)

-Abnormally higher thirst being a result of elevated urine manufacturing

-Dryness within the mouth

-An abnormal higher appetite

-Feeling very exhausted and weak

-Weight reduction, even when 1 eats nicely

-Impaired vision

When the blood vessels glucose degree isn’t stabilized to some typical worth, there is going to be an accumulation of chemicals within the physique known as ketones, and this problem is known as diabetic ketoacidosis. This significant problem can cause coma and death. The indicators of ketoacidosis are:

-Vomiting,

-Pain within the abdomen

-Rapid breathing,

-High pulse rate

-Somnolence (abnormal tendency to rest)

Within the lengthy phrase, diabetic issues kind one can severely hurt the blood vessels vessels in essential organs. This could additional trigger harm towards the heart, eyes, kidneys or other physique organs.

Remedies OF Diabetic issues Kind one

Diabetic issues kind one is dealt with with insulin injections. Implanting insuline tissue within the pancreas is definitely an experimental remedy. An additional experimental remedy would be to implant stem tissue within the pancreas that may produce into new insulin generating tissue.

An additional essential module from the remedy is regulation of the quantity of glucose and excess fat consumed via the diet plan to ensure that it fits with each other using the insulin-amount injected. Also normal monitoring from the blood vessels glucose degree to manage the insulin quantity is an essential component from the remedy.

You will find also organic items within the marketplace that can assist to normalize the blood vessels glucose degree by diabetic issues kind two. Individuals items can’t heal the illness or substitute insulin injections, but they can assist the physique to manage the blood vessels glucose degree. These items include minerals which are functioning elements of enzymes that stimulate the glucose metabolic process within the physique. In addition they include herbs which have been employed for an extended time in conventional medicine to manage the glucose degree and which have verified their results in scientific research.

Diet is the first and the best natural cures for diabetes patients.
